He was predeceased by: his parents, Everett Sutphin and Elsie Money Sutphin; his wife Roxie Jean Ferguson Sutphin; his sisters, Betty Lou S. Stover and Mickey S. Woodson; his granddaughter Kristen Sutphin; and his daughters-in-law, Debbie Byrd and Elizabeth Sutphin.
He is survived by: his children, Brent Sutphin of Stoneville, NC, Cathy Sutphin-Byrd of Hickory, Jennifer Sutphin Haynes of Hickory and Emilie S. Austin (Ben) of Hickory; and his grandchildren, Meredith S. Woods of Madison, NC, Jessica S. Smith of Madison, NC, Hailey Austin of Hickory and Jakob Austin of Hickory. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 14th 2025 from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM at the Bethlehem Baptist Church (7500 NC-127, Taylorsville, NC 28681). A funeral service was held on Friday, February 14th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, February 14th 2025 at the same location.
