She was predeceased by: her parents, Vance LeeRoy Starnes and Eulalia Deal Starnes; her husband Gus Pappas; her sons, Mike Pappas and Chris Papazekos; and her brothers, A. C. Starnes and Dennis Starnes.
She is survived by: her son Dr. Jody Papazekos of Lake Norman; her grandchildren, Nick Papazekos, Jacob Papazekos, Alexa Pappas and Lola Pappas; her sister Peggy Putnam; and her brother-in-law Nick Papazekos.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 22nd 2025 from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Burke Mortuary & Crematory of Newton (2516 N Main Ave, Newton, NC 28658). A graveside service will be held on Sunday, March 23rd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the St. Stephens Lutheran Church (2304 Springs Rd NE, Hickory, NC 28601).
