Ila Kate Blankenship left this world on October 28, 2024 at the age of 86, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. She was predeceased by: her parents, Enos Blankenship and Dorcas Kennedy Blankenship; her former husband Marine Corps; her daughter Mary McGuinness Lane; her grandson Dustin Matthew Lane; her great grandchild William Alexander Mitchell; her siblings, Maxie Lockhart, Nadine King Freeman, Peggy Sue Swetnam, Estel, Elmer, Walter, Theodore, Jesse, Franklin, Wetzel, Richard Junior Blankenship and James "Asher" Blankenship; her son-in-law Kenny Garringer; and her grandparents, Preston, Patty Roberts Blankenship, Burbidge and Charlotte Asbury Kennedy.
She is survived by: her children, Karen "Terry" Mitchell Garringer of Morganton, NC, Diann McGuinness of Edenton, NC and Blair B. (Kathy Felty McGuinness) of Buxton, NC; and her grandchildren, Sarah Gedminas (Laurynas), Nichole Firth (Eddie), Melanie Mitchell, Lawrence W. "Billy" (Laura), Daniel E. "Danny" (Tharani), Eric B. (Mary), William T. "T. J." Davenport (Amber), Alan R. Mitchell and Keegan Lane. She is also survived by 20 great- grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Viewing was held on Saturday, November 2nd 2024 from 11:15 AM to 11:45 AM at the St. Ann Catholic Church (207 N Broad St, Edenton, NC 27932). A Mass was held on Saturday, November 2nd 2024 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
