He was predeceased by: his parents, William McKinley Engle and Dovie Laughter Engle; his siblings, Elizabeth Engle, Doris Boggs, Barbara Anne McClain and Hoover Engle; and his stepson Michael Silver.
He is survived by: his wife Earline Silver Engle; his children, Phillip Engle (Teresa) of Woodfin and Lisa Carper; his grandchildren, Kristen, Callie and Whitney; his stepsons, Ronnie Silver (Gracie) and Terry Silver of Asheville; and his stepgrandchildren, Heidi, Heather, Heath, Andy, Katie, Megan and Molly. He is also survived by ten step-great-grandchildren.
