He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Elaine Bone DeSoto; his children, Sherry DeSoto Skinner (Francis) of Raleigh and Michael DeSoto (Mary-Anna) of Raleigh; his grandchildren, Eric Skinner, Ranleigh DeSoto (Amillia), Katherine Skinner, Claire DeSoto and Avery DeSoto; his great grandchild Ellie DeSoto; and his sisters, Dottress Cassell and Effie Marie Price (Burl). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.
