He was predeceased by: his parents, Markley Lance and Lora Lance. He is survived by: his wife Linda Lance; his daughters, Susan and Andrea Lance; his granddaughters, Olivia and Juliana Hill; and his sister Viola Moorefield of Winston-Salem. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
