He was predeceased by: his parents, Hugh Shepard Quarles and Mary Ellen Owens Quarles; and his siblings, Linda McCoy and Kevin Shepard Quarles. He is survived by: his wife Betty Virginia "Ginger" Quarles (Scottish Terriers); his daughter Cecilia Elizabeth Higgins (Jason Corbett Higgins); and his granddaughter Jennifer Zappa-Higgins. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, December 12th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the St John (1895 Greenville Hwy, Flat Rock, NC 28731).
