It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Terrence James Shackelton (Henderson, North Carolina), who passed away on February 14, 2025, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his father John Shackelton; his wife Mary Kathleen McLaughlin Shackelton; his mother Alice Pailing Shackelton Lauber; and his stepfather Arnold Lauber. He is survived by: his children, Randy Shackelton (Betty) of Wake Forest, NC, Peggy Lane of Morrisville, NC and Amy Umnus (Dave) of Raleigh, NC.; his grandchildren, Tyler, Brandon, Trey, Thomas, Brett and Alyssa; his stepgrandson Patrick Rosado (Yara); and his stepgreat-grandchild Nathanael.
Visitation was held on Thursday, February 20th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Bright Funeral Home (405 S Main St, Wake Forest, NC 27587). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the St. Catherine's of Siena Catholic Church (520 W Holding Ave, Wake Forest, NC 27587). A burial was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 at the St. James Catholic Church (3275 US-158 BYP, Henderson, NC 27537). He was a tireless volunteer with the USO from 2012 until the onset of COVID-19 in 2020, assisting at the USO Club, delivering supplies, and providing transportation for military personnel across North Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Diocese of Raleigh Catholic Charities: Nourishing Our Neighbors initiative (https://www.catholiccharitiesraleigh.org) or the Melanoma Research Alliance.
