He was predeceased by: his parents, Shirley Roberson Matthews and Thomas Jefferson Matthews. He is survived by: his brothers, Willis Matthews (Frankie), Clarence Matthews (Pat) and Scott Matthews (Rena); and his fiancée Darlene Humphries. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Sossamon Funeral Home of Henderson (1833 Oxford Rd, Henderson, NC 27536). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
