In loving memory of Cecile Thurston of Hayesville, North Carolina, who departed this world on January 13, 2025 at the age of 89. Cecile leaves behind a legacy remembered by family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Mary Margaret Stovall and Charles Albert Jehle, Jr.; her husband Gary Thurston; her son Charles Durrance; and her grandson Ricky Aspinwall.
She is survived by: her children, Maria Rodgers (John), Joan Jones (Mike), Margaret Ostrowski (John), Sam Durrance (Michelle), Matt Durrance, Joseph Durrance (Carol) and Steven Durrance (Michele); her stepdaughter Heather Miller; and her sister Charlotte Jehle Mason Kitchell of McKinney. She is also survived by her 22 Grandchildren and 22 Great Grandchildren, along with numerous cousins, friends.
Visitation was held on Monday, January 20th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Townson Rose Funeral Home (525 US-64, Hayesville, NC 28904). A funeral service was held on Monday, January 20th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel (525 US-64, Hayesville, NC 28904). A burial was held on Thursday, January 23rd 2025 at the St. Margaret's Cemetery.
