It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ruby Modlin Preston of Haw River, North Carolina, who passed away on May 9, 2023, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her spouse Canton Coolidge Preston, Sr.; her parents, Ernest Modlin and Mattie Forbis Modlin; her children, Willard Deual Mann (Frances) and Karen Puckett; her stepmother Callie Foust Modlin; her grandson Johnny Len Copeland; her great great grandchild Johnny Harris; and her siblings, Ruth Whitesell, Mable Wrenn, Thelma Bright, Ed Modlin and Colonel Modlin.
She is survived by: her children, Betty Copeland (late Don) of Burlington and Junior Preston (Robin) of Haw River; and her stepson Ronnie Preston (Linda) of Thomasville. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; and 1 great-great-great granddaughter.
