She was predeceased by: her parents, Nancy B. Elder and James L. Goodman, Jr.; her siblings, Phyllis Goodman and Larry Goodman; and her stepmother Lela Allison Goodman.
She is survived by: her children, Anita Young (Russell) of Concord, NC, Renita Edmond (Russell) of Charlotte, NC, Beverly McEaddy (Deon) of Concord, NC, Sherlyn Edwards of Harrisburg, NC and Lawrence Hames (Shawnda) of Charlotte, NC; her sister Mildred G. Neal of Kannapolis, NC; her caregivers, Yaseka Smith and Hollie Martin III; her close friend Sophia Wilkerson; and her daughter Laverne Young. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, 19 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins.
