He was predeceased by: his parents, William Maurice Burgess, Sr. and Annie Bristow Larue; and his wife Angelyn Maynard Burgess. He is survived by: his children, Samuel Filmore "Fil" Burgess, Jr. of Harrells, Richard Maynard Burgess (Terrie) of Ivanhoe and Carla Bristow Burgess (Ian Schreier) of Pittsboro; and his grandchildren, Chad Burgess, Channing Burgess, Sam David Burgess and Sarah Burgess.
