He is survived by: his wife Penelope "Penny" R. Mitchell; his daughter Janet Allen (Kent) of Harrells; his grandchildren, Mitch Allen of Wilmington and Kelly Allen of Charlotte; his stepchildren, Wesley Rivenbank (Sharon) of Chesterfield, SC, Roberta Lee (Chris) of Long Creek, Judy Nava of Harrells and Shirley Dixon (William) of Rose Hill; and his siblings, Thomas Mitchell (Frances) of Harrells, Durwood Mitchell (Helen) of Roseboro, Frances Wells of Clinton, Rachel Shaw of Ivanhoe, Susan Godsey, Iris Riggs and Margaret Sealey.
