He was predeceased by: his parents, Elma Matheny and Hencil Matheny of Plymouth, NC.; his sisters, Doris Rasberry and Barbara Peyton; and his sons, Brian and Michael Matheny.

He is survived by: his former wife Georgia Wallace. He is also survived by his nephews, niece and friends.
