It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Okal Paul Umbarger of Harmony, North Carolina, born in Ceres, Virginia, who passed away on July 5, 2024, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Hubert Paul and Cleo Umbarger; his brother Thorton Umbarger; and his children, Samuel Paul Umbarger and Yvonne Kaye Umbarger.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Jane Summers Umbarger; his sons, David Emory Umbarger and James Patrick Umbarger (Michelle); his siblings, Woodson Umbarger, Geraldine Fields and Betty Helton; his grandchildren, Chrys Umbarger, Mindy Brown (Jason), Matt Umbarger, Ali Umbarger, Courtney Edmiston (Evan) and Colby Umbarger; his great grandchildren, Preston, Cohen Brown, Noah, Christian Wilkins and Adeline Edmiston; and his daughters-in-law, Diane Umbarger and Carol Umbarger.
