He is survived by: his parent Rosetta Blair Shelton; his spouse Brenda Lea Bailey Atwell; his children, Jolena Addair (Eddie George) of Statesville and Billy Joseph Atwell (Tonya) of Statesville; his grandchildren, Shayla, Lindsey, Casey, Joey and Gabby; and his siblings, Dillard Atwell (Barbara), John Atwell (Geneva), David Atwell, Eunice Edgell, Jane Deskins, Emily Fultz and Loretta Payne (Odell).
