He was predeceased by: his parents, Oliver Griffin and Nora Griffin. He is survived by: his wife Margaret M. Griffin; his children, Cynthia Gail Golden (Ned) of Straits, NC, William "Billy" Griffin (Paula) of Oak Island, NC and Jonathan Lynn Griffin (Pam) of Davis, NC; and his grandchildren, Alicia Burrage, Phillip Griffin, Aaron Golden, Farrah Robinson, Elizabeth Willis, Mallory Griffin, Meredeth Morris, Noah Morris and Jude Fulcher. He is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren.
