He was predeceased by: his daughter Gina Johnson Lewis; his parents, Earl Johnson and Pauline Johnson; and his brothers, Robert Roland Johnson and Niles Blaine Johnson.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Deen Johnson; his son Earl Douglas Johnson, Jr.; his wife Teresa Johnson of Rocky Mount; his daughter Donna Brooks (Bentley) of Harkers Island; his grandchildren, Jordan Lewis of Gloucester, Charlie Brooks of Raleigh, Matthew Chilton of Straits, Kyle Chilton of Straits and Johnna Brooks of Harkers Island; his sister-in-law Donna Johnson of Harkers Island; and also Billy Chilton (Amy) of Straits.
