He was predeceased by: his father Hugh S. Bell; his wife Martha Clanton Bell; and his niece Dawn Bell. He is survived by: his son Darren Hugh Bell (Karen); his grandchildren, Brandon Bell, Joshua Bell and Kallie Bell; his stepgranddaughter Kayla Griffin; his siblings, J. Luther Bell, Sr. (Jeanette) and Margaret Ann Bryant (Charles); his nephews, Tony Bell, Joe Bell and Jeffrey Bryant; and his niece Laura Bell.
