He was predeceased by: his parents, John Henry Cranfill and Nora Bell Cranfill; and his siblings, Joe, Ed Cranfill, Grace Hemrick and Dorcas Thomasson.

He is survived by: his wife Margaret Creed Cranfill; his daughter Kim Vagharfard (Hassan); and his grandchildren, Mojtaba, Somayyah and Maryam.
