He was predeceased by: his mother Ann Coe; his grandparents, Herschell Cooke, Lois Croom Cooke, Woodrow Coe and Lalar Stanley Coe; his uncle Wayne Coe; and his father-in-law Fred Ross.
He is survived by: his wife Paula Cooke; his father Marcus Cooke of Chapel Hill; his brothers, Mark Cooke of Rockford and Joe Cooke of Rockford; his half-sister Shelley Cooke; his parents-in-law, Allan Dietz of State Road and Tommie Ross of Harmony; his uncle Early Coe (Brenda); his aunt Alma Matthews (Landon); and also, Arlene "Ralph" Dietz of State Road and Linda Coe. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest that memorials be made to Flat Rock Baptist Church 3800 Flat Rock Church Road, Hamptonvlle, NC 27020.
