He is survived by: his son Richard Wayne "Ricky" Chavis Jr. of Chapel Hill; his siblings, Mike Chavis of Rockingham, Sylvia Brumfield of Mobile, Barbara Barron of Lake Helen and Deanna Glasgow of Greenville; and his nieces, Cindy Locklear and Kayla Marks.
