She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Baxley and Cora Lee Steen Pate; her husband William Jessup "Jep" Atkinson; and her siblings, Mae Pate Clark, Jack Pate, Ed Pate and Clarence Pate.
She is survived by: her children, Joy McGugan (Duncan) of Lumberton, Julie King (Delma) of Rockingham and Jay Atkinson (Mark) of Belmont; her grandchildren, Tina Sugg (Wayne), DJ King (Kelly), Hanna McGugan and Will McGugan (Karen); and her great grandchildren, Kinley Andrews, Porter Sugg, Peyton Sugg, Macie King, Lexie King, Clay McGugan and Catherine McGugan.
