He is survived by: his son Brent (Lesley); his wife Kathy; his granddaughters, Hadley of Hamlet and Sophia of Hamlet; his niece Karen Garner Borovina (Dan); his great-nephews, Daniel and William of Los Alamos; his sister Frances; his brother-in-law O. W. Altman; his nephews, Scott Altman (Tasha) and Heath Altman of Wilmington; his niece Tammie Griffin (Mike) of Hamlet; his sister Peggy; his brother-in-law Joe Ussery; his nieces, Laura Frye (Scott) of Rockingham and Kelli Garbett (Jared) of Pinehurst; his cousin Carroll Garner (Tiz); and his pet Angel. He is also survived by many other relatives, friends.
