She was predeceased by: her parents, William C. Carter and Viola G. Carter; her husband Irvin Hodges; and her siblings, Robert Carter, Lee Carter, Autie Carter, Blondell Webb and Sybil Bean.
She is survived by: her daughter Missy Dennis Freeman of Rockingham; her grandchildren, Brandon Dennis (Mandi) and Tiffany Freeman Cummins (Shannon) of Rockingham; and her great grandchildren, Barrett Dennis, Gracelynn Ennis, Riley Freeman, Braydon Freeman and Carter Fulp. She is also survived by daughter, sister, wife, mother, and "Granny" to her grandchildren.
