He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Carson and Mattie Jackson Smith; and his siblings, Radford Smith, Corbett Lee Smith, Eddie Smith, Allie Ray Smith, Marvin Smith, David Hayes, Levenia Whittington, Margaret Porter and Mary Walker.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley McLamb Smith. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
