He is survived by: his wife Frances Humphrey Tilghman; his daughter Laura Leigh Tilghman; his grandchildren, Sebastian Brian Tilghman, Leland Carter Tilghman and Emmett Grey Tilghman; and his siblings, Juanita Moore (Vernon Moore), Gwyne Jarman (Danny Jarman), John David Tilghman, Jr. (Susie Tilghman), Ronnie Tilghman (Pandora Tilghman) and Lynn Lewis (Trisha Rouse).
