She was predeceased by: her parents, Woodrow Smith and Margaret Smith; her son Nicky Harding; her stepson Alan Herring; and her brother Woody Smith (Janie).
She is survived by: her husband Charles T. Herring; her daughter Toni Whitfield (Jesse) of Bethel; her stepson Charles Herring, Jr. of Winston-Salem; and her sisters, Joan Padgett (Spencer) of Greenville and Deborah Griffin of Simpson. She is also survived by five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
