He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnnie Hathaway and Sallie Hathaway; his wife Myrtle Lloyd Hathaway; his siblings, Sam Hathaway and Elizabeth Bullock; his grandson Glenn Nelson; his great grandchild Chelsey Nichols; and his great great grandchild Charlotte Whichard.
He is survived by: his children, Mary Hathaway Nelson (Melvin) of Southern Pines, Faye Hathaway (Bobby Main) of Greenville, W. H. Hathaway (Rose) of Greenville and C. R. Hathaway of Greenville; his grandchildren, Hope Greene (Paul) of Pinehurst, Chad Nelson of Southern Pines, Barry Nichols, Melissa Hathaway of Winterville, Gina Hathaway of Greenville, Mike Hathaway of Greenville, Renee Grizzard (Billy) of Simpson, Chase Hathaway (Kim) of Greenville and Todd Hathaway of Wilson; and his great grandchild Allyson Hathaway.
