He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar and Billy; his former wife Thelma Harris Mizell; his brother Larry Eugene Mizell; and his great grandchild Noland Allen Berry.
He is survived by: his wife Linda V. Mizell; his children, Larry Mizell (Jessica) of Goldsboro and Kelly High (Allen) of Winterville; his stepchildren, Karla Allen (Greg) of Winterville and Karl Wesley McLawhorn Jr. of Winterville; his siblings, Jimmy Mizell Sr. (Jo Ann) of Stokes, Donald "D. C." Mizell (Linda Faye) of Greenville, Charles Neal (Darlene) of Greenville and Faye Sutton (George) of Greenville; his grandchildren, Gabriel Johnson, Julia Hathaway and Jessa Mizell; and his stepgrandchildren, Kyle G. Allen, Hailey A. Berry, Riley S. Allen, Karly Ann Harrell, Alston, Willow McLawhorn, Trista, Melissa Alexander, Abigail Bullock and Savannah High.
The family asks that Memorials be made to the Parkers Chapel FWB Building Fund.
