It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Velma Mizell Stalls of Greenville, North Carolina, who passed away on September 25, 2023, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, William Arthur and Fannie Caroline Mizell; her sons, William Anthony Hopkins, Sr. and Ronald Cortez Hopkins; and her siblings, William Ashley Mizell, James Arthur Mizell and Martha Elizabeth Mizell.
She is survived by: her husband Vernon R. Stalls; her son Vernon R. "Rudy" Stalls, Jr. (Carla); her grandchildren, Elizabeth Paige Stalls Massengill (Trey), Michael Douglas Stalls and William Anthony Hopkins, Jr. (Dedemay); her great grandchildren, Jarrett Vernon Stalls, Madilyn Blair Massengill and Alayna Hopkins; and her siblings, Eula Mae Edwards (Gene), Lori Ann Gaston (Jerald), Bonnie Jean Williams (Tim), Robert Ed Mizell (Becky) and John Taylor Mizell.
