He was predeceased by: his parents, Thelma Teen Whitaker and Frank Bruce Whitaker; his son Donald Ervin Whitaker; and his siblings, Mac Lee Whitaker and Patricia Ann Whitaker Ange.
He is survived by: his sons, Thomas Frank "Whit" Whitaker (Lisa Briley) of Greenville and Edward Lee Whitaker (Barbara); his grandchildren, Justin Daniel Whitaker (Taylor) of Raleigh and Allison Lee Whitaker of Raleigh; his great grandchild Lucas Baxter Whitaker of Raleigh; and his brother Leland Bruce Whitaker of Greenville.
