He was predeceased by: his wife Phylise Ritchie. He is survived by: his children, Michele Alexander of Cary, NC, Melissa Lawrance of Hertford, NC and Jeff Ritchie of New Bern, NC; and his grandchildren, Darian Dominiak, Hayden Ritchie and Christopher Ritchie.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
