He is survived by: his wife Shirley Woodard Hales; his sons, Wesley Hales (Claudia) of Thomasville, GA and Stuart Hales of Venice, FL; his stepdaughter Sharon Palmer of Fayetteville; and his grandchildren, Josh Hales (Jess), Danielle Whitaker (Allen), Nicolas Hales and Anthony Mayo. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren.
