He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Lee Sr. and Bessie Barnhill Garris; and his brothers, Hiram Edsel Garris, Reginald Garris and Herman Lee Garris, Jr..
He is survived by: his wife LaRose Avery Garris; his sons, Brian Keith Garris (Shelly) of Stokes and Eric Conrad Garris (Trudy) of Stokes; his sister Arcena Smith of Greenville; his grandchildren, Lauren Garris Lawrence (Jake) of Vicenza, Megan Garris Boyles (Joey) of Stokes and Ian Avery Garris of Greenville; and his great grandchildren, Jasper Boyles, Isla Lawrence, Wyatt Lawrence and Millie Boyles.
