He was predeceased by: his parents, Ruth J. West and John J. West, Sr. of Beaufort County; his sister Lorraine West Palmer; and his son John "Trey" James of West, III.. He is survived by: his wife Martha "Betty" Love West; his son Stephen L. West (Lindsay Peeler West) of Greenville; his daughter-in-law Holly Hovey West of Durham; his grandchildren, Kaitlyn of John, IV, Logan of Durham, Emma of Greenville, Olivia of Greenville and Jackson "Jack" of Greenville; and his sister Cyd West Copeland of Durham.
