He was predeceased by: his parents, William Jay and Lillie Elder Pennell; and his brothers, William "Henry" Pennell, Lee Roy Pennell and Donnie Elder.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Barrow Pennell; his children, Christopher Pennell (Denise) of Raleigh, Katrina Cutter of Oklahoma City, OK and Gina Langston of Fountain; his stepdaughter Vikki Heath Forbes (Arthur) of Dillsburg, PA; and his sister Grace Warrix of Taylorsville. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
