She was predeceased by: her parents, John Bland and Effie Bland; her husband Joseph Whitaker; her former husband Rueben Edwards; and her siblings, Walter Buck Bland, George Bland and Mary Sue Gooch.
She is survived by: her children, John Whitaker (Elaine), Patricia Mosley (Randy) of Bethel and Melissa Briley (Tommy) of Stokes; her grandchildren, Terri Adams (Tommy) of Greenville, Joseph Mosley (Everett) of Hobgood, Summer Garris (Tommy) of Ayden and Hunter Briley of Stokes; her great grandchildren, Aidan Adams, Zachary Adams and Wyatt Adams; and her sisters, Vera Silverthorne of Williamston and Jane Roberson (Ron) of Alabama. She is also survived by nieces & nephews.
