He was predeceased by: his parents, Edna Pearl Beard and Frank Peterson Sr. of Greenville, NC.; his siblings, Pete Peterson (Gene), Gidette Boyd Ford, James Beard and Paulette Beard; and his aunt Daisy Spain.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Cox Peterson; his stepchildren, Pastor Lawrence Carnell Burney (Denise) of Greenville, NC, Rev. James Anthony Burney (LeVette) of Huntersville, NC and Eldress Valerie Burney Tyson of Winterville, NC; his sisters, Annette Williams of Washington, NC, Angela Byrd Ford of Maryland, Doris Denise Berryman of Philadelphia, PA. and Edna Ruth Ford of Atlanta, GA.; and his siblings-in-law, Lester J. Cox (Brenda) of Winterville, NC, Ernest L. Cox of Winterville, NC, Pastor Michael R. Cox (Marlene) of Mercersburg, PA, Camilla King (Arthur) of Winterville, NC and Lena Walker (Brian) of Greenville, NC. He is also survived by five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
