He was predeceased by: his parents, Preston Peterson and Sallie Walker Peterson; his son William Peterson; and his siblings, William "Peter" Peterson, Alfred Preston, Catheryn Peterson and Nellie Gadson.
He is survived by: his wife Gladys Peterson; his children, Ernestine Purvis (Ronnie), Shelia Peterson, James Chapman (Evon), Doris Joyner, Casandra Chapman-Corey (Danny), Angelia Peterson and Wanda White (Wendy Peterson); and his siblings, Brenda Morales (Miquel) and Jimmy Ward. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren along with a host of other relatives and friends.
