He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Pitt Taft and Clarence Taft, Sr.; his brother Roosevelt Taft; his daughter Dutchess Taft; and his nephew Tyrone Taft.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce Batts Taft; his children, Kimberly Taft of New Haven, CT, Annette Taft Williams (Hugh) of Greenville, NC, Tameka Taft-Williams (James) of Charlotte, NC and Clarence Jamaine Taft, III (Shenitha) of Greenville, NC; his siblings, Patricia Atkins (Alton) of Greenville, NC and Charles Taft of Greenville, NC; his aunt Annie Wade of Greenville, NC; his uncle Everette Pitt of Raeford, NC; his close friend Betty Spann of New Bern, NC; his nieces, Sonya Clark Pearson and Stephanie Taft; and his nephew Roosevelt Taft, Jr. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, three great grandchildren.
