With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Nellie Hester Chavis of Greensboro, North Carolina, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. She was predeceased by: her parents, Walter Hester and Lucy Tapp Hester; her husband Bedford Chavis; and her son Minister Steven Douglas Chavis. She is survived by: her sons, Darryl Dwayne Chavis, Jerry Mathews Chavis and Bernard Chavis; her sister Emma Sue Pettiford; her grandchildren, Brandon, Tiffany, Ashley and Erika; her great grandchildren, Cayden and Brianna; and her sister-in-law Dianne Chavis. She is also survived by relatives and friends.
Viewing will be held on Tuesday, April 15th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church (3701 Heath Ave, Greensboro, NC 27401). Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 16th 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 16th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
