She is survived by: her husband John Carroll Compton; her sons-in-law, Nicole Lowrance, David, Christen Allison and Brent; her grandchildren, Jack Lowrance, Caroline Allison, Anna Lowrance and Sarah Margaret Allison; her brother David Compton; and also Cindy Compton.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Monnie's name to Glioblastoma Foundation, P.O. Box 62066, Durham, NC 27715 or Hospice Foundation of Greater Greensboro, 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro NC 27405.
