She was predeceased by: her parents, William Thomas Way and Naomi Apple Way; her siblings, Annie Laurie Cole and Fred Way; and her husband Robert Rigdon Scruggs, Sr..
She is survived by: her children, Susan Scruggs Van Gelder (Philip) and Robert R. Scruggs Jr.; and her grandchildren, Christopher Van Gelder (Cass), Andrew Van Gelder, Amy Kern (Christopher) and Robert R. Scruggs III (Beau). She is also survived by her great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, April 19th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:45 PM at the Proximity United Methodist Church (1200 Vine St, Greensboro, NC 27405). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 19th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
