He was predeceased by: his parents, Devie Worth Canoy and Margaret Deaton; his siblings, Debra Canoy, Shelby Canoy and Kenneth Canoy; and his sister-in-law Barbara Cecil.
He is survived by: his children, John Douglas Canoy, Jr. and Kristina Michelle Lunsford; his grandchildren, Zachary Grant Canoy, Jacob Dwayne Faulk and Evelyn Angel Faulk; his siblings, Herman Canoy, Mark Canoy, Nonnie Needham and Karen Doorman; and his sister-in-law Vicki Canoy.
