He was predeceased by: his father Jack M. Austin; his stepmother Kaye Austin; and his stepsiblings, Terri Phillips and Wayne Phillips. He is survived by: his mother Shirley Austin King; his daughter Danielle "Deedee" Burns (Scott); his siblings, Jerry Austin, Dee McGee (late Barry McGee), Joanie Holmes (Michael) and Becky Austin Long (Greg); his stepsisters, Crystal Austin (Bob), Kimberly Ferrell (Chuck) and Amber Cornwell (Don); and his grandsons, Elijah and Quinn Burns. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 14th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the George Brothers Funeral Service (803 Greenhaven Dr, Greensboro, NC 27406). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 14th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, monetary contributions are encouraged and appreciated in Joe's honor to the "Toys for Tots" program Greensboro Chapter.
