He was predeceased by: his parents, Lomer Phelps and Hattie Jones Phelps. He is survived by: his wife Linda Phelps; his children, James David Phelps, Jr. (Lisa) and Kristi Lea Phelps; his brothers, Charles Phelps (Virginia), Fred Phelps and Larry Phelps (Phyllis); his grandchildren, Rachel Phelps, Ryan Phelps, Jessica Lambert (Ethan) and Cory Hinson; and his great grandchild Olivia Lambert.
