George Barkley Obituary
We bid farewell to George Barkley of Greensboro, North Carolina, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on November 11, 2024 at the age of 85. George touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his grandfathers, Poppy, Alex Jarrell of Middlesex, Garrett of Greensboro and Whitaker Rose Workman of Greensboro; his significant other Rose Moore; his parents, Dr. Key Lee Barkley and Helen Mae Roberts Barkley; and his siblings, John, Karl Barkley and Jean.
He is survived by: his daughters, Beth Barkley Balas (Mark) of Middlesex, NC and Jean Barkley Workman Elms (James) of Greensboro; and his brother Allan (Barbara).
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 23rd 2024 at 2:00 PM at the St. Marks Episcopal Church (1725 N New Hope Rd, Raleigh, NC 27604). Prior to COVID, Dad was an active senior enjoying his exercise group at Wake Medical Center (and their breakfasts after exercise), his Starmount breakfasts with neighbors, and his weekly dinners at K&W Cafeteria.
