He was predeceased by: his parents, Douglas Glenn and Carrie Hughes Dunn Guess; his sister Ruth Hazel Hughes Powell; and his nephew Shawn Edward Powell. He is survived by: his wife Berniece Martin Hughes; his children, Elliotte Hughes Hopkins and Khaliah Hughes Cothran (Jonathan); his grandchildren, Giselle Cothran and Mason Cothran; and his sisters, OrDella Dunn and Brenda Dunn Hughes. He is also survived by nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Burlington NC (508 Apple St, Burlington, NC 27217). A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 at the Alamance Memorial Park (4039 S Church St, Burlington, NC 27215).
